About

Life is full of interesting stories.

I cannot account for why I have this blog. Mostly I seem to write poetry, I hope you like poetry. I had planned to write funny stories – out of 23 posts so far we have a total of 1 funny story, 2 recipes, a few opinion pieces and the rest is poetry. There seems to be a very high probability that I will write poetry into the future too.

Hi Ky, it it always felt like you were following me – so what if the computer didn’t know that (we don’t have to tell it everything, it can be so smug at times… which is hard to take considering it has NO experience whatsoever at being a human).

Thanks for the kind words and encouragement. Plus I think it was me who took ages to click follow šŸ˜‰

    You’ll wind up someplace else”..

      Hi Mr Catsoe!

Indeed one could end up simply anywhere, at any time, but in my limited experience, we don’t often travel too far from where we were really going anyway. The stories we tell ourselves.

It turns out that I like surprises, therefore I keep a lot of secrets from myself. some are delightfully enjoyable to uncover, such as recording the experiences of life in poetry and others are more like a cold shower on a cold day. I never know which I will uncover next…

Thanks for stopping by, I’m also quite happy you are enjoying yourself. Looking forward to reading some of your work.

Enjoyed discovering your blog Jambo Robyn – especially liked the recent metred poetry, it’s such a skill to get the meaning and emotion of a piece across and yet still keep to a tightly structured form – hats off to you!

Thank you very much and welcome! I have received all kinds of advice about my poetry style, apparently rhymes are not “in” at the moment, but I totally enjoy the challenge and there is a certain rhythm to my thinking that I find best expressed in a tightly controlled form. What can I say, I enjoy patterns. šŸ™‚

I look forward to checking out your blog soon.

      Cheers,

  7. Great intro. Love poetry but I’m slightly more intrigued right now by the title of your other blog so off I go. Chances seem pretty good I’ll be back for the poems though, seeing how I love poetry so…and redundancies.

  10. <smile> I do understand the surprise of discovering an inner poet. Until a few months ago, I considered myself a writer who penned the occasional poem. Since beginning my most recent blog, I too am a bit surprised to find myself composing poem after poem after poem.

Fortunately, it seems, WordPress is a poet’s safe house … poetry is loved here. Perhaps because there are so many inner poets breaking free?

Lovely blog you have here. = )

Thanks for the visit Patrick. You’re right, for poets, WordPress is where the love is flowing. I get the feeling poetry helps us to express that uniqueness of our individual souls. Whatever the reason, I LOVE IT! and I love that you are doing images and poetry together. Your blog is looking really interesting. It makes me want to know what type of person you are etc, so I think you have done really well with it so far.

      Cheers

      1. You are most welcome, Robyn.

Mmmm…. poetry allows us to create word combinations which formal and conversational language structures do not. Perhaps it’s that freedom to play with words — their meanings, sounds, emotions, context, metaphor — which frees up our minds to play with the possibilities those words represent more than when we write prose, whether fiction or non-fiction.

I wonder if, also, poetry is to the written word what email/facebook/twitter is to conversation — we feel freer to tell stories, make statements and accusations, reveal more of ourselves in poems and emails than we do in conversations and prose.

And thank you, so much. I’ve tried several different blogging formats. I think I’ve hit on the one which works best for me. I’ve never been able to maintain a better than post-a-day pace for very long, but this streak seems to have some longevity. That, and I feel a good number of these posts represent my best work.

<smile> Of course, there’s a bit of me in every post… just beware of irony, and the occasional fictional character playing devil’s advocate. ; )
